Today I’m sharing a couple of simple and affordable 2020 Summer Tablescape Ideas with Better Homes & Gardens at Walmart.  Since we can’t go shopping right now, it’s a great time to shop your home, and use decor that you already have available to create gorgeous dining spaces for you and your family to enjoy.  And you don’t have to have a huge variety of dinnerware to do it!  In fact, today I’ll be using the same dinnerware in both examples of my 2020 Summer Tablescape Ideas.  One a little more formal, and the other, a little more casual.

But first, this post is sponsored by Better Homes & Gardens at Walmart.  As part of the BHG Live Better Influencer Network, I am privileged to share awesome tips and inspirational ideas using Better Homes & Gardens at Walmart products.  I will receive compensation for my time and effort to create these posts.  But as always, my opinions are my own.  The convenient shopping links I will provide for you will help support the blog, at no additional cost to you.  Now let’s take a look at my 2020 Summer Tablescape Ideas!

One of the things I enjoy most about creating beautiful tablescapes is not only how lovely the table looks, but it also allows me to express myself creatively.  For my 2020 Summer Tablescape Idea, I decided to share two different examples with you on how I used the same dinnerware, and created two totally different looks.

Let’s get started in the dining room.  Have you noticed the trend with Matte Dinnerware lately?  I’ve definitely been seeing a lot more of it recently, and I was a fan from the beginning.  Not only are they aesthetically pleasing and easy to incorporate into many different styles; they are also dishwasher safe (which is a HUGE win for me), microwave safe, and chip resistant.  The Better Homes & Gardens Zuri 12-piece Dinnerware Set is offered in several different colors.  Each set offers 4 place settings, and I have 3 complete sets.  I prefer neutral dinnerware colors, because I find I can use them in a larger variety of ways.  I am using the Cream ones to share with you today.

Better Homes & Gardens Zuri 12 Piece Dinnerware Set

For the first 2020 Summer Tablescape Idea, I used our dining room table to show you that a neutral tablescape does not have to be boring.  By using the art of subtlety, you can add simple elegance to any table.  Here, I incorporated muted grays, and warm metals to create an inviting, more formal ambience.  I did this by double-layering two different sized chargers.  I also used either gold or clear vessels down the center of the table.  I finished each place setting with gold silverware.

Under usual circumstances, I’d actually add a lot MORE to my tablescape.  I love a full table that is not only visually stimulating with lots of beautiful pieces to enjoy while having a meal.  But, in this example, I was only able to shop my home and use pieces that I already had in the house.  But you could certainly add more if you wanted to…like a few more small bouquets of white hydrangeas, and tea candles in clear vessels, for a very dramatic effect.  But you have to keep in mind that I also am not one to set food out on the table, so I don’t need to extra space for serving.  Either way, you have to do what makes you happy…what makes you smile, in your own home.  These are simply suggestions on how to make it all work.

This lantern is also a favorite styling piece that I use year round!

Are you feeling creative yet?  Good, then let’s move on to the outside for a more casual 2020 Summer Tablescape Idea, using the same dinnerware. In this example, I incorporate bright colors that reminded me of summer, using items I already had in my stash. I did that by using yellow placemats as a base, and a colorful green moss table runner down the center of the table.  I like to keep a package or two of seasonal artificial fruits around, like green apples or lemons.  They are perfect for these types of occasions.  If this tablescape were inside, I’d opt to use real fruit, but we because are outside, and our lanai is not screened in, artificial fruit is the way to go!  Just using a couple of pieces added the perfect burst of color to complete the look.  I also used the same gold silverware, but doesn’t look and feel so different at this table?

Again, neutral dinnerware can provide a lot of bang for your buck, because there are so many different ways to style it.  And you can always add in color with your placemats, chargers and table accessories.  Be creative, and most importantly, have fun with it!

Nothing says “Sunday Brunch” like a beautiful outdoor table, complete with a gorgeous morning cocktail.  And if you’ve been following me for a while, then you KNOW I love making gorgeous cocktails!  So, let me ask…Are you team Mimosa, or team Bloody Mary?  I like either one, just depends on the guests/or mood of the morning.  For this year’s 2020 Summer Tablescape Ideas, I’m sharing my Spicy Bloody Mary Cocktail.

Who’s ready for Bloody Marys?! These Faux Wood Chargers were also the perfect addition to this outdoor tablescape design.
A closer look at how different chargers can help create an entirely different feel for your place setting.

I’ve seen some OUTRAGEOUSLY COOL Bloody Marys from travel days past.  But I tend to keep mine…relatively simple.  Ha!  Just kidding…the sky is the limit!  I like to include lemon wedges, olives, cocktail onions, celery, pickled asparagus, cheese, bacon and shrimp.  We’ve even experimented with Mini-Sliders!  Bloody Mary’s can be so much fun to make and enjoy with friends.  But no cocktail is complete without the perfect cocktail glass.  I used the Better Homes & Gardens 10 Piece Bloody Mary Set.  It includes 6 of the iconic hurricane glasses, and pitcher, and 3 jars, perfect for setting up your Bloody Mary Buffet!

The iconic Hurricane Glass is just right for a perfectly sized beverage!

2 Cups of Zin Zin Bloody Mary Mix

1 Cup of Grey Goose Vodka

2T of lime juice

1T of Tabasco sauce

I like to rim our glasses with a spiced rim salt that you can either make yourself, or pick up one that’s already made.

And then…THE GARNISHES!  Anything from your favorite vegetable snacks like celery, cocktail onions, or asparagus; or even bacon, sausage or shrimp…add delicious treats to your cocktail that you’ll enjoy snacking on while you enjoy your Bloody Mary!

So, that’s it!  I hope you got some creative ideas and insights on shopping your home, and using what you already have to make a beautiful 2020 Summer Tablescape!  Don’t be afraid to be creative, and use things to style your table that perhaps you wouldn’t normally use (as long as it’s safe, of course).
