And just like that, it’s officially hosting season. The time of year when our home seems to have a revolving door of family and friends coming for visits, and I love every minute of it! In order to get things ready around the house, I decided to give our guest bedroom a nice and affordable refresh for the season. Here’s a quick look at the before.
I like using lots of neutral tones in this room for most of the year to make it feel not only calm and inviting, but gender neutral as well. But for fall, I decided to bring in some of the traditional warm colors and textures. I started with the bedding.
I love using neutral or white bedding in our guest bedroom for several reasons. First, it’s very easy to launder and not have to worry about colors bleeding. Next, it assures our guests that everything is fresh and clean. And finally, I think neutral or white bedding adds more luxury to any bed. I found this beautiful Pintuck Comforter Set from Better Homes & Gardens at Walmart, and it immediately transformed the space.
Next, to bring in those cozy fall colors, I added lots of throw pillows of varying sizes, shapes and textures. The round tufted velvet pillow comes in an array of colors, but I thought the rust color was just perfect for fall. But the Rosette Plush Ivory pillows in the back are my favorite. They are so soft and inviting.
I finished off the bedding update with this super soft Sherpa Throw Blanket, perfect for guests to snuggle up and enjoy their morning coffee.
Speaking of coffee, I added a small update to the sitting area as well. I’d previously had a side table in the space, but it was a tad too small for the room. But this Nola Side Table by Better Homes & Gardens at Walmart was the PERFECT size. Large enough to allow guests to sit books or coffee on, but not so large that it overpowered the space.
I also updated the window treatment. I removed the old dark panels and installed these light an airy sheers. I used 2, but you could also use 4 if you wanted to achieve a fuller look.
These quick, easy and affordable changes totally transformed the guest room into a seasonal oasis. But I wasn’t quite done yet. Because nothing says “fall” like the smell of something AMAZING, right? My official favorite scent of the season is the Pumpkin Smores Latte. I added it to this Galvanized Wax Warmer for a safe alternative to candles.
I hope you got some fantastic ideas from this post! And whether you’re the hostess with the mostest, or you’ll be traveling a lot this season, I’m wishing you and your family a beautiful fall. Enjoy.
Until next time,
Love & peace
